Review: Open at the London Art Fair
Open Gallery’s first foray into the world of the London Art Fair exceeded all expectations. Housed in the unanimously revered Art Project Space, Open’s uniquely interactive and fully immersive booth drew fair goers in and held them transfixed. The collaboration between Gabrielle Le Bayon and Hilary Lawson proved to be as effective in London as it had been during its Miami debut in December. Finding themselves playing the role of voyeur in Le Bayon’s work, visitors to the booth were able to transfer their keen interest in and their detailed observation of their own image on to the scene surrounding them.
This process of interacting with your own image reflects the concept of self-awareness central to Lawson’s Now Revisited Revisited. The synergy between the two works left visitors with a deeper understanding of video painting and further to that it caused more than a few smiles to bubble to the surface.
For those of you who were unable to attend you can view photographs of the fair on the installations page of the site and read our London Art Fair blog on Blogger.
